Hosting a WebEx Meeting

  1. Log in- Use the website or the Desktop app to log in to your account.

  1. Start your meeting- Invite or remind others to attend if needed.

Note: In the WebEx Meeting Center, in the “Start a Meeting” drop-down you can choose whether to use the Web app or Desktop app. For the purpose of this document, we are using the Desktop app, which is recommended for hosts to have full-functionality.

  1. The system will tell you what default audio settings are in use. Choose a new audio source from the drop-down menu if needed. Using your computer for audio is recommended. Click Test speaker and microphone to test your equipment or to change devices. Then click Start Meeting.

  2. Menus- Once you are connected, you will see the following icons at the bottom of the window.
  • The icons may show the words or just the icons depending on what device you joined from. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    • Mute/Unmute – Mute or unmute audio  
    • Video – Start or end video  
    • Share Content – Share your screen or a program with the group
    • Record – Start or stop recording the meeting
    • Reactions- Use emojis to share your reaction
    • Other options (... menu)– Access additional options (see below)
    • End (red X) – Click here to leave or end the meeting
    • Participants – Show or hide the list of participants
    • Chat – Show or hide a chat window on the side

When you click on the Other options button, more menu items will display. This list will be shorter if you are using the Web app.

  • Switch audio - Change or disable your audio
  • ​​​​​Lock/Unlock Meeting - Locking your meeting prevents anyone else from entering
  • Invite and remind - To send a reminder email to someone who forgot about your meeting
  • Copy meeting link - To copy meeting information so you can paste it into a text or email
  • Enable breakout sessions - To enable the setup and use of breakout sessions
