Join a Meeting

Download the Zoom Client for full functionality. Using Zoom in the browser offers limited options. 

Log in to Zoom using your Columbus State credentials for the highest level of meeting security.

 

Read more on joining a meeting by clicking a method below:

  1. Open your course page on Blackboard.
     
  2. Click Zoom in the Course Menu on the left. 
    If you don't see it listed there, click on Course Tools in the menu, then Zoom.

     
  3. This will open a new Zoom window that shows Upcoming and Past Meetings, as well as any Recordings.


     
  4. When it's time for the class meeting, click Join next to the Meeting.
     
  5. If prompted to sign in, sign in using SSO (see Log in to Zoom for more details on signing in).

 Your display name can be changed while joining or during a meeting. See Change your Display Name in Zoom meetings for more.

  1. Open the Zoom desktop client.
    If you have not downloaded the Zoom Client yet, download the installer here.
     
  2. Sign in using SSO (see Log in to Zoom for more details on signing in).
     
  3. Click Join.

  1. Enter the meeting ID or paste the meeting link in the top field and enter your display name below.

    Your display name can be changed here or during a meeting. See Change your Display Name in Zoom meetings for more.

  1. Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and click Join.
  1. Open the Zoom mobile app.
    If you have not downloaded the Zoom mobile app yet, you can download it from Google Play or the App Store.
     
  2. Log in to Zoom using SSO (see Log in to Zoom for more details on signing in).
     
  3. To join a meeting, tap Join.

  1. Enter the meeting ID or paste the meeting link in the top field and enter your display name below.

  1. Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and tap Join Meeting.
  1. Open the email or calendar invitation and click the Join Meeting link.


     
  2. The link will open in your default browser. If you are not logged in, you will see this window:
  • Hosts - click Sign in to Start (see Log in to Zoom for more details on signing in).
  • Non-hosts - click the option to Join Meeting as an Attendee.

  1. Next, you may see this pop-up to open Zoom (or allow it to open), click Open / Allow if Zoom is already installed on your computer.


     
  2. If you don't see that pop-up, or if Zoom isn't installed yet, you will see these options:
  • Launch Meeting - this will try to open the meeting in the Zoom Client.
  • Download Zoom -  this will install the Zoom Client.
  • Join from Your Browser - this will open Zoom in the browser instead of the Client if you are having issues or don't want to install it. 
    Please note- We recommend using the Zoom Client whenever possible for the best experience.
