Security

  • NEW: minimum password length increasing from 8 -> 12 characters..
  • Enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication with Duo to protect your account.
  • Change password every 90 days as best practice for security on an account.
  • Columbus State will never send an email asking for username and password verification. 

 Name change

  • If your name has been updated with Records and Registration, your new CSCC login will be available for discovery by the end of the next business day.  
  • Blackboard access with your new login will not be available until the morning after your login is created.

Written Instructions

Follow these instructions to complete the discovery of your Columbus State account. You can also use this process to update a forgotten password or to create a new password. 

Step 1: Go to http://password.cscc.edu and click the Discover  / Activate button. Verify your identity by entering the code that will be sent to the personal email address you have on file.

Step 2: Once you have verified your identity, your Username and Cougar ID will show in a blue box at the top of the page. You can set a new password and answer challenge questions below.

You do not have to change your password or challenge questions if you already know them. However, it is recommended that you reset your password every 90 days to keep your account secure.

Password complexity requirements:

  • Password has not been used before
  • 12 to 60 characters in length
  • begins with a letter
  • at least 1 upper case letter
  • at least 1 lower case letter
  • at least 1 number
  • No special characters
  • Click Update at the bottom to save changes, or Cancel to exit.
