Navigate to Grades

Log in to Blackboard, then select the Grades option in the list on the left.

The Grades page will display all courses and organizations that you current have access to.

Click on any course name in the list to open the Gradebook page for the course. Note: you can also view specific grade and feedback (read below) for a single item by clicking on the item name.

The Gradebook page will look similar to the image below. Note the item title on the left and the grade or status icons on the right.

  1. Unread grades have a purple dot indicator to make you aware that you should review this grade.
     
  2. The Icon signifies what type of assessment (e.g. discussion board, formative assessment, quiz).
     
  3. The Item Name lists the title of the column and information such as your first post or reply to a discussion, how many attempts you have submitted, and whether an assessment is still available.
     
  4. If set, the Due Date appears.
     
  5. The Status tells whether the entry has been opened, started, submitted, or graded.
     
  6. The Grade shows the points, percentage, or letter grade received for the assessment.
     
  7. Click View to see more in-depth feedback from your instructor.

What do the Gradebook statuses mean?

If you see Draft saved or Unopened, you need to submit your work for your instructor to be able to grade it.

Status Description
[blank] This assessment is not submitted through Blackboard.
Unopened You have not yet viewed this assessment.
Draft saved Your work is in progress, but you haven't submitted it yet.
Submitted You submitted your work. This item is ready for grading.
Graded Your instructor has graded your submission
