Video Overview

Navigate to Grades

Log in to Blackboard, then select the Grades option in the list on the left.

The Grades page will display all courses and organizations that you current have access to.

Click on any course name in the list to open the Gradebook page for the course. Note: you can also view specific grade and feedback (read below) for a single item by clicking on the item name.

The Gradebook page will look similar to the image below. Note the item title on the left and the grade or status icons on the right.

Unread grades have a purple dot indicator to make you aware that you should review this grade.
The Icon signifies what type of assessment (e.g. discussion board, formative assessment, quiz).
The Item Name lists the title of the column and information such as your first post or reply to a discussion, how many attempts you have submitted, and whether an assessment is still available.
If set, the Due Date appears.
The Status tells whether the entry has been opened, started, submitted, or graded.
The Grade shows the points, percentage, or letter grade received for the assessment.
Click View to see more in-depth feedback from your instructor.

View the Rubric

A Rubric is a set of criteria that is used to determine your grade. Instructor can choose to attach a rubric to any assessment including assignments, tests and quizzes, discussions, and journals.

View the rubric criteria before completing the assessment

Before beginning an assessment, you can see if a rubric is attached to an assessment by seeing This item is graded with a rubric under the assessment's Details & Information section.

You can click on This item is graded with a rubric to view the specifics about the rubric. This can help determine standards for your submission as well as how each criteria related to your grade.

View rubric results after submitting the assessment

After your instructor has graded your assessment using the Rubric, you can view how your assessment was evaluated against the criteria in the rubric.

From the Gradebook, click View to show your grade, then click on your score.

Click on your grade under the Details & Information section of your assessment.

View the Rubric Detail to see how your grade was calculated from the rubric criteria. Reach out to your instructor if you have any questions about your score.

View Test / Quiz / AI Conversation results and feedback

You can click on View beside the test or quiz from Gradebook, to view your test or quiz results.

Your instructor can choose what feedback and results are visible to you and when. They can chose to show or hide your responses, the individual question grades, the correct answer, and any automated feedback. If you have any questions about your assessment performance and what you are able to view, you should contact your instructor.

In this example, feedback will be visible after the due date and question scores will be visible after all grades have been posted:

In this example, all information is visible including your responses, question scores, the correct answer, overall feedback, and individual question feedback. Note the indicator at the top which tells us that your instructor has added feedback to this assessment. It let's you know to look for it.

View Assignment feedback

You can click on View beside the assignment from Gradebook, to view your results.

Your instructor has many options in providing feedback on an assignment submission.

Expand the Assessment Content to view the original assignment instructions.
The Blackboard Annotate canvas can have embedded feedback directly on your file submission. For more on Blackboard Annotate, read the related article: Review instructor feedback in Blackboard Annotate.
Your Grade appears on the top right.
There can be optional Attempt feedback from your instructor in the form of text or an audio or video recording.
There can be an optional Rubric that shows the criteria used to calculate your grade

View Discussion / Journal feedback

From the Gradebook, click View to show your grade, then click on your score.

Click on your grade to view any optional rubric criteria. Click on the feedback icon to view specific feedback in the form of text or an audio or video recording.

What do the Gradebook statuses mean?

If you see Draft saved or Unopened, you need to submit your work for your instructor to be able to grade it.

Status	Description
[blank]	This assessment is not submitted through Blackboard.
Unopened	You have not yet viewed this assessment.
Draft saved	Your work is in progress, but you haven't submitted it yet.
Submitted	You submitted your work. This item is ready for grading.
Graded	Your instructor has graded your submission
