Overview
How to use the US Bank viewer VMware workstation to access, load and export historical bank check images
Location of Certificate Key
- On the virtual machine, navigate to C:\Users\Documents\BankViewerFiles for the certificate key file.
Error Messages and Actions
- Load Volumes. The application is unable to find volume #.
- This error is caused when trying to search for a volume (CD) that is no longer in the CD rom. Delete the existing volumes from the application and import a new CD for searching.
- When logging in as "User" the US Bank Media Viewer will not open.
- Login to the US Bank Media Viewer as vlewis6 or another admin account.
- Click on Admin then User Administration.
- Delete the User account by clicking on User and then click Delete.
- Confirm deletion by clicking Delete.
- Click Add to add a new user account. Name the account 'user' and enter the password. Click Add.
- Click Administer shared searches, Administer products, and Administer volumes. Click Apply to save all changes. Logout and test the new user account.
- Error starting the VMware Virtual Desktop.
- "The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file
- Cannot open the disk 'C:\Windows 10 x32\Windows 10 x32.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on."
- navigate to the folder C:\Windows 10 x32
- Delete the lock folder Windows 10 x32.vmdk.lck
- Restart the application
Using the Virtual Bank Computer
Login to the Virtual Bank Computer and Start the US Bank Media Viewer
- Access and login to Computer (HZ00ND2) located in the Cashiers and Student Accounting office, at the windows.
- Click on the icon US Bank View Computer to start the VMware virtual machine (Windows 10, 32-bit)
- This virtual computer is not attached to the campus network or to other campus technology services. Sole purpose is for accessing checks.
- The virtual computer will automatically load and login as User.
- On the virtual computer, click on the US Bank Media Viewer icon to start the check viewer.
- Enter the Login Name and Password and then click Login.

Process to Load / Access Bank CDs
- While in the US Bank Media Viewer, click on File and then Volume Manager.
- Delete all volumes before inserting a new CD. (Highlight the volumes, click Delete.)
- Click Import
- Choose Directory and Browse.
- Choose the CDROM and click OK.
- Click on Import. Import should show complete.
- Click OK.
View and Access Bank Checks
- Enter the specific search criteria and/or hit search to search all records.
- Search for the desired check image in the search box.
- Double click on a record to open and to view the check.
Close the Check Viewer and Shutdown the Virtual Machine
- Close the US Bank Viewer by clicking File and then Exit.
- Shutdown the virtual computer by clicking the Start Menu, Power, then Shutdown.
