Body
Project Overview
Blackboard is Columbus State’s online learning management system. Over the next year, we will gradually transition from Blackboard Learn (Original Course View) to Blackboard Ultra. By Autumn 2026, all courses will adopt this modernized format.
Ultra courses offer a streamlined, intuitive interface designed to enhance teaching and learning. With simplified navigation, improved accessibility, and a responsive design, students and instructors can enjoy a consistent experience across laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
We’re excited to bring this new experience to students and faculty. Check back regularly for updates and training information as we prepare for this exciting change together.
Move to Ultra Courses
Why are we transitioning to Blackboard Ultra?
Right now, Columbus State uses the Blackboard Learn (Original Course View) to deliver course content. This course format is being retired by Anthology. Over the next year, we’re moving to Blackboard Ultra—a more modern, student-centered experience. While many features will feel familiar, Ultra brings a fresh design and helpful enhancements for both instructors and students. It’s easier to navigate, more accessible, and works beautifully on mobile devices - making learning more flexible than ever!

Project Timeline
Columbus State is moving to Blackboard Ultra in phases, with full implementation set for Autumn Semester 2026. During the transition period, you might see some of your courses in Blackboard Learn (Original Course View) and others in Blackboard Ultra - and that’s expected as we work through this transition!
This phased approach will allow us to provide guidance and support every step of the way to ensure a successful semester for students and instructors. In Autumn 2025, there is a select group of faculty members and courses who will be participating in our Pilot group.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if my course is in Blackboard Ultra?

Where can I find technical support for Blackboard or other College applications?
Employees and students who need technical support can contact the IT Support Center at 614-287-5050 or email helpdesk@cscc.edu.
In-person support is also available. On the Columbus Campus, in-person IT support is located in the Center for Technology and Learning (TL) in the TL Lobby or inside TL 116 (Computer Commons lab). On the Delaware Campus, support is provided in the Learning Center in Moeller Hall.
Why can't we keep using Blackboard Learn (Original) courses?
Blackboard will be retiring Blackboard Learn (Original) courses, so we must move away from it. In addition, upgrading to Ultra courses will provide a better course experience for faculty and students.
