IT Smart Lockers: Equipment Pickup

What are IT Equipment Lockers?

Columbus State IT equipment can be picked up using contact-free smart lockers located in the basement of Union Hall.

Smart lockers can also be used to return IT equipment that is no longer needed. For detailed instructions, review the following article: IT Smart Lockers- Equipment Drop-off

IMPORTANT: If you are picking up a laptop, you must log in to it before you leave campus or it will not work off-campus.
For detailed instructions, jump to the Activate Laptop section.

 Written instructions:

Requesting Equipment

  1. Your Executive POC can submit an equipment request on your behalf following the instructions here: Equipment or Software Request.

  2. Wait for an email notification: When your equipment is ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification letting you know your items are ready in the lockers. You will need this email to pickup IT equipment.
  • The email will contain your 5-digit access code and/or QR code; either option will allow you to access the appropriate locker(s).
  • Your items will remain in the locker for 5 business days after the notification is sent.
  • If you are unable to pickup within the five (5) business days, please contact IT Support Services at 614-287-5050. Your pickup will be re-scheduled and you will receive another notification when it is ready. The notice may not be immediate depending on volume as locker space is limited.

  • Note: The emails will have the [EXTERNAL] warning because the email is coming from a Simota email address, not cscc.edu. It will look similar to this:text that says, "From: CSCC <nofify@smiotapod.com>, Subject: [EXTERNAL] You have 1 Package(s) at 550 E Sprint St, CSCC"

     3. Bring your employee badge to campus with you as it will be needed to gain access to the building and room.

On campus: Accessing UN-006

  • You may park your vehicle in a reserved space in lot 34, adjacent to Union (UN) and Delaware Halls (DE) (see this campus map for reference). Marked spaces will be on the west side of the lot closest to Union Hall. Maximum parking duration is 30 minutes.
  • Enter Union Hall via the south tower entrance (double sliding door across from TL). UN-006 is straight down this hallway on the right.

  • Hold your badge near the proximity reader to unlock the door. The light on the reader will turn green when unlocked.
NoteYour badge must have a black proximity sticker (like a small puck) for the reader to work.

  • If you have trouble opening the door, please contact the CSCC Police Department at 614-287-2525 to gain access to the room.

  • The smart lockers are available at various heights and are assigned randomly to users. If you need to request a locker below 48” for any reason, please contact IT Support Services at 614-287-5050 for assistance prior to coming to campus. You will not be asked to disclose the reason for your request and appropriate steps will be taken to accommodate you.

  4. A wheeled cart is provided for your convenience to carry the items to your vehicle. If the weather is inclement, a cover is also provided to keep the items dry. Please return these to UN-006 when you are finished transporting your items.

  5. Ensure all contents have been removed before closing the locker door. Once the door is closed, you will not be able to re-open it unless you contact IT.

  6. If you are picking up a laptop, ensure you follow the activation instructions below or your device will not work at home until you return to campus to complete this process.
