What is Microsoft Lens?
Microsoft Lens is recommended if you don't have a scanner but need to submit physical documentation (such as written homework or signed forms) digitally through email or Blackboard. Lens serves as a scanner that you use by taking a picture with your phone.
According to Microsoft:
Microsoft Lens trims, enhances, and makes pictures of whiteboards and docs readable. You can use Lens to convert images to PDF, Word and PowerPoint files, and you can even save images to OneNote or OneDrive. Lens is like having a scanner in your pocket. Like magic, it will digitize notes from whiteboards or blackboards.

Using Microsoft Lens

How to use Lens app
- Open your app and choose a mode at the bottom. As you move the camera, Lens will try to frame the object and make it clear. Press the button to take the picture.
- Whiteboard- use this to capture handwritten notes, whiteboards, or sketches
- Document- useful for capturing items with small words or details, like homework assignments or flyers
- Business card- use this to capture business cards
- Photo- best for taking pictures of scenery or people
- Lens will try to clear up your image then give you a preview. You can edit your image before saving.
- Use Crop to trim away parts of the image you don't need
- Filter will add a color filter on top of the picture
- Click More... to add text, rotate your image, or to delete it and try again
- To take more pictures, tap the Add+ button
- When you are finished editing your photo(s), tap Done.
- Give your photo a title, then save it to your device or send via email if desired. You can also export your image to OneNote, OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, or save it as a PDF.
