Softphone: Cisco Call for Microsoft Teams

What is a Softphone?Cisco call icon

A softphone is an application that lets you make and receive phone calls using a computer or mobile device, instead of a physical desk phone. Columbus State is replacing Jabber, the current software, with Cisco Call,  which is accessible in Microsoft Teams.

Setup Instructions

Before you start learning how to use Cisco Call for Microsoft Teams, you will need to make sure everything is set up correctly. If you are missing Cisco Call (app within Microsoft Teams) or Webex on your device, these instructions will help: Softphone: Setup Instructions.

How to use the softphone

Cisco Call will show up as an icon on the left menu in Microsoft Teams. When you select Cisco Call, it will open Webex on your computer.
 - The first time you access the app, you will be prompted to sign in to Webex (using your Columbus State email and password). Then, Webex will run in the background.

From Cisco Call, you can make and receive calls, listen to voicemails, access speed dial contacts, and more.

We recommend using a College-provided computer when possible. If you need to access phone services using a personal device, that is an option, but support will be on a best-effort basis only. IT can offer general guidance and setup instructions but does not have control over personal devices or the applications installed on them.
