What is a Softphone?
A softphone is a software application that works like a phone over the internet using a computer or smart device instead of a physical desk phone. Columbus State is replacing the softphone, Jabber, with Cisco Call which is accessed in Microsoft Teams.
Setup Cisco Call
There are two apps that need to be installed:
- Cisco Call - will be automatically connected to your Teams account and installed.
- WebEx - needs to be installed manually: Install WebEx
Don't see one of them? Expand the boxes below to see troubleshooting steps:
What if I don't see Cisco Call in Teams?
It might be hiding under the "more apps" ellipsis.
If you don't see it in the full list of apps, contact Telecom.
What if WebEx doesn't open, or I see an error message?
If WebEx doesn't open, or you see a message like the one above:
- first try opening WebEx manually from your device
- If it isn't installed, or still won't open you can install it here: Install WebEx.
