What are IT Smart Lockers?
Columbus State IT equipment can be returned using contact-free smart lockers located in the basement of Union Hall. Employees can drop off broken or unneeded equipment or return equipment when an employee is leaving the College.

Schedule your equipment return

Schedule an equipment drop off/return by contacting the IT Support Center by phone, email, or online support ticket.
(For support hours and contact information, see cscc.edu/ithelp.
- Wait for an email notification: This email will contain your 5-digit passcode for the Smart lockers in UN-006. You will need this email to drop off IT equipment.
- Note: The email will have the [EXTERNAL] warning because the email is coming from a Smiota email address, not cscc.edu. It will look similar to this:
- Bring your employee badge to campus with you as it will be needed to gain access to the building and room
On-campus: Accessing UN-006
- You may park your vehicle in a reserved space in lot 34, adjacent to Union (UN) and Delaware Halls (DE) (see this campus map for reference). Marked spaces will be on the west side of the lot closest to Union Hall. Maximum parking duration is 30 minutes.
- Enter Union Hall via the south tower entrance (double sliding door across from TL). UN-006 is straight down this hallway on the right.
- Hold your badge near the proximity reader to unlock the door. The light on the reader will turn green when unlocked.
Note: Your badge must have a black proximity sticker (like a small puck) for the reader to work.
- If you have trouble opening the door, please contact the CSCC Police Department at 614-287-2525 to gain access to the room.
- The smart lockers are available at various heights and are assigned randomly to users. If you need to request a locker below 48” for any reason, please contact IT Support Services at 614-287-5050 for assistance prior to coming to campus. You will not be asked to disclose the reason for your request and appropriate steps will be taken to accommodate you.
Using the Smart Lockers
Follow these steps to drop off equipment using the console and Smart Lockers in UN-006.
- Locate the console in UN-006.
- On the console, tap the Recipient button (now returning the equipment you previously received), then enter the 5-digit passcode from the notification email.
- Click Drop Items, then select the locker size you need for the equipment you have.

The console will give you a locker number. Deposit the items in the locker and close the door.
If you realize you need a different locker size, close the locker door and tap on Change Locker.

Enter the number of items deposited in that locker and click ENTER.

To make more deposits, click on Drop Items and repeat steps 3-5. Once done, tap on I’m Done.
