Audio Issues
If people in a meeting can't hear you, you might be muted or you might not have configured your microphone correctly.
Here are some basic troubleshooting steps you can follow:
- In your Teams meeting, look at the microphone button. If there is a line through it, your microphone is muted. Click the button to unmute yourself.
- To verify or change your speaker, microphone, or camera settings when you’re on a call or in a Teams meeting:
- Select More options
- Then Device settings
- Device settings will open in a sidebar on the right. Select the speaker, microphone, and camera options you want from the drop-down menus
- If the above options do not work, make sure you are not muted on your device. For example, many laptops have a mute button for the speakers and microphone on the keyboard.
This is an example of a Lenovo laptop, but yours could look different or be in a different location.
- If you are using a headset, it could also have its own mute/unmute button or volume controls. Double check to make sure that your headset is not muted either.
Troubleshoot microphone issues on a Mac
If you're using a Mac and you're having trouble getting your microphone to work, you might need to change one of your privacy settings.
Here's how to check:
-
Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS 13+)
-
Select Security & Privacy
-
Under Privacy, choose Microphone on the left
-
Make sure Microsoft Teams is selected or switched ON
