What is a preferred name?
A preferred (or chosen) name is simply a name that a person uses in their daily life that is different than what appears on their legal records. Students and employees can share their preferred name, gender identity, and pronouns at the time of their initial application or employment, or they can add/change their preferred name and other personal information later (see instructions below).
The College is committed to using your chosen name in as many places as possible. Currently, there are still a few places where we are required to use your legal name.

- Then click the Personal tab in your profile.

From the Personal menu, there are tabs for Names and Personal Information where you can update your preferred first name, gender identity, and pronouns.
Expand and item below for detailed instructions:
Edit Preferred Name
- From the Personal screen in your Profile (see above) select the Names tab.
