Summary

Shows employees how to configure their search in Workday to easily search for students

Body

Why configure your search?

This article is for employees who have access to student records in Workday, but students are not appearing in the search results.

When logging in to Workday for the first time, employees will need to configure their search. This will enable you to search for students in the search bar by name or Cougar ID number. This process should only need to be completed by each employee once.

How to configure your search

  1. Log in to Workday
  2. Enter a student's name or Cougar ID number in the search bar.

  3. Select Edit Categories.

Note: if your search page looks different, see Workday: Search Experience.

Menus at the top, with "Edit categories" option highlighted

  4. Locate Student under the Unpinned Categories section. Then click and do not release your selection of Student while you drag it up to the Pinned Categories section and release it.
Edit Category Preferences window open with an arrow showing "Student" moved from unpinned to pinned categories.

  5. Click Save at the bottom.

  6. Now you should be able to search for a student via Cougar ID number or name and related student results will display.

If you are still not seeing students, it may be a security access issue. Please contact IT Support for additional assistance.
