What is Peer Review?

Some assignments may have peer review enabled which allows you and your classmates to provide feedback on each other's submissions.

When peer review is enabled, there will be two due dates on the assignment: one for your submission and another for your peer review feedback. The feedback is anonymous to students; you won't know which student you are reviewing and they won't know who provided the feedback.  However your instructor will be able to view the names of both the submitter and the reviewer.  You might be required to review more than one submission so pay attention to the assignment requirements.

  1. Be sure you have submitted your own assignment before the submission deadline.

  2. After the submission deadline, return to the assignment and open the assignment detail panel.

  3. Scroll to Assigned Peer Reviews and click on Start peer reviews.
View of assignment detail showing Assigned Peer Reviews with a "Start Peer Reviews" button
  4. Read your peer's submission, and type your remarks in the Feedback for student textbox.  You can click Save Draft to save and finish your feedback later.

  5. Click Submit when you have finished your feedback.

  6. Confirm the submission by clicking Submit again.  Once you submit your feedback, you cannot edit or delete it.

  7. If your assignment requires more than one peer review, use the links above the submission (e.g. "Peer 2") to navigate to the next submission.

  8. When all peer reviews have been submitted, the assignment detail panel will reflect that each has been completed:
