Connect to CSCC VPN Remote Access

Summary

Connect your employee laptop to the Columbus State network from off-campus

Body

What is VPN remote access?

The Columbus State virtual private network (VPN) provides remote employees with easy access to resources that are normally only available on-campus. These resources include network drives, campus printers, and select websites. The VPN also helps IT manage updates and technical support for your device.

Employees will use Cisco Secure Client to sign in to the VPN and then use their Duo enrolled mobile device to verify the account for multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Connect to the VPN

  1. Open the Cisco Secure Client. This can be found in your Start menu (on Windows) or in the Applications folder (on Mac).

  2. The client will automatically connect to asa.cscc.edu and select the CSCC_Duo group. Do not edit the selected group.
You may see these windows open in the background as they connect:
    Cisco Secure Client window connecting
Cisco Secure client window with Group set to "CSCC_Duo"
  3. When the login window comes up, enter your Columbus State username and password.

  4. Verify your account with Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA), by selecting Send Me a Push or Enter a Passcode.
    NOTE
: If this your first time using MFA, follow the online instructions to register and/or enroll a mobile device.
Secure client login window with CSCC branding
  5. Approve the Duo MFA verification request on your enrolled device.

  6. You will now be connected to the Columbus State VPN.

Note: The VPN will automatically disconnect after you shut down your computer or it goes to sleep. You can follow these steps again to reconnect.

Disconnect from VPN

  1. Open Cisco Secure Client.

  2. Select Disconnect.
