Permission Levels
There are several pre-defined permissions levels, the 3 main ones are:
- Owner - Full Control over the site
- Member - Create, edit, delete content and can share files, folders and the site.
- Visitor - Read and download content

How do I grant a CSCC employee access to my site?
- From the Home page, in the upper right corner, click members link.
- Click Add members button.
- Start typing a name or email address until you see it show up below the field where you are typing, then select it.
- Save.
- From Group membership, you can change the member to be an Owner of the site or Remove the member from the site.
How do I grant someone Visitor (read-only) access?
- Click the Gear (upper right corner).
- Choose Site permissions.
- Select Advanced permissions settings.
- Open Visitors SharePoint Group.
- Click New > Add Users.
- Type in name or email address.
- Include optional message.
- Click Show Options, select Send an email invitation
- Share
How do I grant an external person access to my site?
- From the Home page, in the upper right corner, click members link.
- Click Add members button.
- On the Add members page click the go to Outlook link.
- Under Group members, click Manage group members.
- Click Add members.
- Type the email address of the person you want to add, the click the Add button.
What is the difference between "Add member to group" and "Share site only"?
- Adding someone to an Office 365 Group gives that person access to all the Microsoft applications being used in the Group. If you only want the person to have access to the SharePoint site and not Conversations (Group emails), Teams, Planner, etc., choose “Share site only”.
