What are Access codes?

Many courses at Columbus State require (or recommend) that students purchase a textbook access code which allows you to interact with additional course content on the publisher's website. The process varies for each textbook, making the publisher the best contact if you need help using the code or navigating the related online resources.

If you are provided temporary (free) access to the materials to start the semester, make sure to purchase your own access code in a timely manner to ensure continued access for the entire length of your course. Typically the temporary access lasts 2-3 weeks.

Columbus State also offers some Instant Access Courses that use digital course materials or e-books. Students are provided direct access to the content from the Blackboard classroom. How do I use my access code?

To access the online materials, open the publisher’s login page. The link for the login page will typically be provided by your instructor via Blackboard or an email. Log in to an existing account or create a new one. (This refers to your account with the publisher, not your CSCC login.) Use your access code to complete registration and enter the site.

What if I don’t have the access code in time for the first day of class?

Check your syllabus or course materials to see if your instructor has noted availability of a temporary (free) access code you can use to get started while you wait on financial aid or a textbook delivery. Typically the temporary access lasts 2-3 weeks, so make sure you still purchase your own access code in a timely manner to ensure continued access for the entire course.
