Friends and Family in Workday
The Friends and Family section in Workday allows students to request that a third party be granted proxy access to specified account information. Staff can view the listed contacts, but only students can add a third party to their account.
This article is for students who are granting Third Party permissions (proxy access).

Step 1) Add contacts to Friends and Family
- Log in to Workday
- From your Workday homepage, select the Person icon in the top right corner. Select the View Profile button.

- In the Contact (a) section of your profile, under Friends and Family (b), select Add (c).

- Enter the relevant information (fields notated by a red asterisk are required).
- In Relationship Types, select Proxy. (You can select more than one relationship type for a contact, if applicable.)
- Is Third Party User must be checked.
- Fill out First and Last name.
- Once that's all filled out, select the Contact information tab.

- Fill out the Contact information to continue.
Contact information
Phone number is required for an emergency contact.
Email address is required for a proxy to receive necessary emails.
However, including all three types of contact information is recommended.
- Select the blue OK button at the bottom to continue.
- Finalize your choices before selecting Done. Then you should see the contact listed in the Friends and Family tab:

Next you need to manage specific permissions for any third party users you have added (follow instructions in Step 2 below).
Step 2) Manage Permissions for Third Party
- Select Manage Permissions for My Third Party under the Actions menu.

- Select the Allowed box corresponding to any or all of the following options: make a payment, view their financial aid package, view account activity, view student statement, view current classes, and view student grades.

- Once the permissions are selected, select OK.
Step 3) Privacy Release Authorization Waver
- Before the third-party access can be finalized, the Privacy Release Authorization Waiver must be completed, providing a reason for the waiver and checking Confirm after reading the disclosure. Then click Submit at the bottom.

- Now that the third party is added, the third party user indicated will receive three emails to the email address provided:
